Grantsville City is the second most populous city of Tooele County, Utah. The area
was first known as the Twenty Wells since there were so many artesian springs in the area. It gained its first settlement in 1848, and the first permanent settlers to arrive there did so in 1850. Thirty years after its settlement, it was renamed Grantsville City in honor of the military leader who was sent there to control the hostility of the Native American tribes in the area.
